I've been intensively writing blog posts recently (OK, it has been a while since I first wrote that)...Oh, hi, there! Welcome! Anyway, I was thinking of what to write next after that post when I was looking through my draft posts.

LOL! That face! |
And...I found this draft post sitting there. So, here we go. I will be talking about Saekano (the short form for Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata) in this post. It's quite an interesting anime that took me a while for me to watch them. Anyway, let's go!
WARNING:-
SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven't watched it and plan to watch it without anyone being the spoiler, please DON'T CONTINUE READING!!!
P.S. If you want to be spoiled, well, go ahead and read it. You HAD been warned. Don't blame me for being spoiled if you INSIST on continuing to read this post.
Introduction
|
The anime... |
The anime, Saekano is an adaptation of a Japanese light novel series of the same name by Fumiaki Maruto, with illustrations by Kurehito Misaki. The light novel is published under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. This series also has one manga adaptation and two spin-off manga adaptations. As for the anime TV series, it is done by A-1 Pictures for the two seasons and also the two episodes. Anyway, there is a movie for this series that is coming in the fourth quarter of this year (2019), which is done by CloverWorks. I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure whether I can watch it in my country but I'm still looking forward to it. Anyway, let's move on.

The light novel... |
Plot
|
Working hard... |
The male high school teenager, Aki Tomoya, is a typical 2D > 3D guy...like me!!!! OK, back to the topic. Anyway, yes, Aki is the main character of this story. He works multiple part-time jobs to fund his otaku lifestyle. What is an otaku lifestyle? Well, it is all about anime, manga, light novel, dating sims games (which usually is a visual novel game), and all of the merchandise related to them.
|
That fateful encounter... |
One day, Tomoya encounters a beautiful girl during spring vacation when he was riding a bike. Wait a minute...is that some cliched plot development going on there? Anyway, with that encounter, he turns to two school beauties, Sawamura Spencer Eriri for art design and Kasumigaoka Utaha for the scenario writing. And yes, he knows them before the story even begins. And interesting, he later found out that the girl whom he encountered during the vacation is his classmate, Katou Megumi, who is hardly noticeable to her classmates. Well, he decided to recruit her to star as his game's main heroine (the main character's love interest). Wow...
|
Recircuiting Eriri... |
|
Recircuiting Utaha... |
Anyway, from then on, the team go on a tough journey to make the game for the Winter Comiket convention. The team is later named as Blessing Software. From there, they start the journey of making a visual novel and also developing relationship amongst themselves. Anyway, the team ended up with a crisis because of Eriri and Utaha being recruited, rendering the circle pretty much crippled, even with Izumi coming in. How are they gonna make another game? Well, maybe we will get that in the upcoming movie. I wanted to comment on this story...but let's put it in the section below.

Well...a different Izumi look... |
Anime Rating
Season 1
Story (Rating: 8/10)
The making of an amazing heroine from a relatively boring (more like hardly noticeable) character is the running theme of the story. The story is pretty interesting as it has a pretty good aim, that is to make a galgame, which is basically date sims game. I like the funny and weird scene that happens at times. The episode 0 is really funny and even broke the fourth wall! LMAO! Anyway, if you want fanservice, you have A LOT! They are from the anime's weird camera angles and scenes that can look misleading if you didn't understand the context. The story has a decent flow and pacing. And also, the story is relatively easy to understand.

Oh...Eriri...oh, Eriri... |
Art and Animation (Rating: 8/10)
Decent art and cute girls...why not?! Anyway, the art and animation are pretty consistent. And also, fanservice!!!! You know what I mean, you deviants out there...
smirks...
|
Fanservice! |
Sound and Music (Rating: 6/10)
The BGMs are quite good and well-placed but...sadly, the OP and ED songs are not really my cup of tea. The OP is energetic and nice while the ED is quite ok. The cover version of the OP for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Sorairo Days is quite good. Oh yeah, this cover version of the popular song is actually the insert song for this season.
|
From the opening sequence... |
Characters (Rating: 7/10)
Cute girls, funny and interesting characters...Aren't you happy with it?! Anyway, if you like tsundere and childhood friend character, you will find it in Eriri. If you like a thirsty senpai who is always wanting to have
your dick you, you will find it Utaha. Well, basically, the characters are actually quite cliche ones. Cliche characters are characters that either people can't get enough of them or get sick and tired of them. For me, I dun really whether they are cliche characters or not. As for character development, they are mostly focused on the progress of the game. Well, there is also inner character development also but they are not the major theme.
|
Cute Izumi! |
Enjoyment (Rating: 8/10)
For me, I enjoyed watching it as the story progresses. The characters are cute and the interactions between the different characters are funny. There are different weird camera angles for deviants to enjoy (which I dun really bother about). Anyway, this is a fanservice-heavy anime with a decent storyline.

That breaking of the fourth wall...LOL! |
Overall Rating: 7.4 (7.25)/10
Season 2
Story (Rating: 7/10)
The story is pretty much the same as it is the continuation of the previous season. Its episode 0 is still, as usual, funny and breaking the fourth wall once again. The major theme of turning Megumi into an appealing heroine is still there. Every weird and funny scene are still a staple part of the story. And also, fanservice!!!! If you like weird camera angles and the misleading scene is a staple part of the story. The story flow and pacing are decent and having a story that is relatively easy to understand. Nothing much but the ending...feels more like a cliffhanger than an actual ending as there is no feeling that the main character has achieved his lofty goals.
|
Eriri!!!! Dun die on us!!!! |
Art and Animation (Rating: 8/10)
The art and animation of this season are pretty similar to the previous season. It has decent art and cute girls. The art and animation are pretty consistent, just like the previous season. And of course, the fanservice in this season is as good as the previous season.
|
Once again...Kato... |
Sound and Music (Rating: 5/10)
Same as the previous season. Good background music and decent OP and ED songs. Well, except for the fact is that there is no insert song for the second season. Other than that, pretty much the same. I dun really like the OP and ED songs.
|
Decent one from the opening sequence of season 2... |
Characters (Rating: 10/10)
Well, it is pretty much very similar to the previous season. Cute girls, funny and interesting character, funny and weird scenes and the running theme of turning Katou into an appealing character are pretty much intact in this season. As for character development, similar to the previous season, they are mostly focused on the progress of the game. BUT...this character development has made the two of the circle's core members to depart for a big project. It is sad but...I seriously can't say that it is necessary because I don't really a resolution for the fate of the MC's circle and dream. Anyway, let's move on.

Cute! |
Enjoyment (Rating: 7/10)
Pretty much very similar to the previous season. Cute characters and funny interactions are still there and still good. Also, there are STILL different weird camera angles for deviants to enjoy (which I dun really bother about). I did enjoy it except for the ending, which is pretty inconclusive and probably will only have its answer in the movie, which I think that it will be the final anime adaptation of this series as the story of the source material has ended.

A much peaceful period... |

Conclusion
It has been a while since I have posted an anime review on an anime that I didn't review (but didn't rate) previously. Anyway, I have my job intact, which I thank God for. I need my job to sustain my hobbies and pay off debts. Well, it looks like it's time for me to end it here. I hope that you enjoyed reading this post and hope that you come to this blog to visit once again. So, goodbye and God bless you!
