HERO...a combination of H and Ero...WHAT?!

Hey, yo...How are you, my dear readers? For me, I'm trying to get as much blogging as I would like. Also, watch anime and mostly, having fun playing games. Of course, I can't neglect my full-time job as I need money to support myself. Also, things haven't been the best in recent times but I decided to sober up and make the best of what I can.

...and ERO made up the word "HERO"...what the...?

Recently, I had enjoyed writing up the blog post about Kantai Collection's opening theme song. I really enjoy writing about it. That song is one of my old favourites. I still like that song until today. Anyway, now, I wanna talk about another anime HxEros, which has A LOT of fanservice. I think I will enjoy this so do many of you. LET'S GO!!!!!!!!

The series, Dokyuu Hentai HxEros (ド級編隊エグゼロス), also translated as Super HxEros started out as a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ryōma Kitada. It was serialized in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine from May 2017 to February 2021, with its chapters collected into twelve tankōbon volumes. Wait, it's already ended?! I think I should get caught up with it. Anyway, the anime adaptation produced by Project No.9 aired from July 2020 to September 2020. Ya, that's it. Moving on...

Ah...back in the happier times...

This story started with two kids who are childhood friends, Hoshino Kirara and Enjo Retto. They did a lewd handholding. They hang out with each other...in an interesting way. Anyway, back to the current timeline of the anime.

O.O...eh...

At the current timeline where the anime is at, Retto hangs out with his friends in high school as his friends take out some magazines that irk the girls in class. Kirara pops and grabs those magazines out of the way. Interestingly, she was actually wearing gloves and is called the Iron Maiden. Wow...what a way to call her. The reason why she turn from that cheerful girl that I show you in the beginning into this girl who is called the Iron Maiden and is highly related to what I'm gonna talk about next. That incident is from their childhood time, by the way.

That moment that changes everything...

We later see that the alien invaders called Kiseichuu (キセイ蟲) or translated as "Censor Bug". They plunder "H-energy" in an attempt to make mankind extinct and take over the Earth. These aliens are also why Kirara changed. The alien died because of the overflowing H-energy that was sucked from Kirara trying to protect Retto. From then on, she closed herself off from the world, especially to any sort of romance and from Retto. To protect Kirara from them, Retto joins the "HxEros" team, which includes Tenkūji Sora, Momozono Momoka and Shirayuki Maihime.

On a certain day, he speaks to her for the first time in many years when he is helping Kirara to take the exercise books to the office but their rocky relationship is unchanged and he even...let's say saved her and have an interesting incident with Kirara at the same time. She ran off blushing. Well, duh! Anyway, he did try to apologize to her the next day on the way home. He encountered the same Kiseichuu that he defeated the day before on the way home alone. This time, he ran out of THAT energy and decided to run away with Kirara.

Back to that place again...

Well, well, they ran to the park where they played together as children. They then hold hands with each other while hiding. Ah...the thoughts of Kirara is...a very interesting one. I would not further elaborate on it. You better watch that part yourself. From then, the watch that Retto is wearing indicates that a huge amount of energy is coming from them and attracting the previous alien to come at them. They then defeated it together and also, left them naked as using that "H-energy" breaks the clothes.

Ah...I remember! This is didn't end well.

After that, Kirara gets to know the rest of the HxEros team members who are living together with Retto in a dorm for team HxEros. Kirara almost joined them until Retto's uncle, Anno Jō mentioned that she had the "eros" quality to be part of the team. She left the room. Later, in school, Kirara was again saved by Retto when she confronted the alien who tries to suck the energy from her schoolmates. Well, that hero act from Retto left them naked. Finally, after all the troubles, awkwardness and good fanservice moments, Kirara decided to join the HxEros team with Retto.

Kirara got captured...O.O...oh, no.

...time to gather some "energy" on the way to rescue Kirara.

Well, from then on, it's mostly fighting aliens and giving us fanservice from time to time until Kirara was kidnapped and the rest of the team decided to save her. The rest of the team (excluding Retto) decided to hand over their underwear to Retto to gather enough H-energy to save Kirara. Hmmm...wait, WHAT?!

Chacha, the alien that will join their ranks later.

AHEM!!! Long story short, Kirara was saved and an alien named Chacha was taken back to their dorm as Chacha wants to escape from being imprisoned in the nest. They once again get back to "normal" as heroes. There is even more aggressive fanservice and interesting scenes before the sudden disbandment of HxEros of Saitama and the sudden arrest of Jō. Ah...Let me briefly explain. There are multiple branches of HxEros and the one that Retto and Kirara are in is the Saitama branch. Since when did Saitama have so many heroes...and some more it's this kind of hero?

Ah...we found the culprit!

Final battle!!! Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!

Final punch to defeat the queen...

Anyway, they find out that it was the Queen of the censor bugs' plan to dismantle the team and conquer the Earth. Anyway, they went into the place where she lives and defeated her. Although some incidents caused Chacha to be controlled briefly and cause the team to be trapped, with team effort and a special combo punch from Kirara and Retto, they defeated the queen and end the fiasco. With the team back in place, they continue to fight the censor bugs and save the world. Well, there is more story beyond but that's in the manga. Plus, the anime ending is not indicating any sequel so that's it. I'm going any further other than the extra 2 episodes are just more fanservice. Let's go.

Story (Rating: 8/10)

A very refreshing way to see the word "hero"...I will never see it the same way again. Just kidding. The story and setting practically legitimatized the fanservice given to us. The story will be more acceptable in terms of plot, flow, pacing etc. if not for the weird setting. Anyway, the story is as easy as you could imagine. xD 

What a way to find the final boss...

Art and Animation (Rating: 8/10)

The character looks good. The colour scheme...ooh...shining. It's pretty decent. The fighting scene? Well, it's practically one punch for the most parts. The eechi scene is really delicious. Mmmm...AHEM! NEXT!

The house is quite well drawn.

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

The opening theme song is really...I should say, "Interesting". The song feels like some sort of Kamen Rider theme song and then it goes down a bit until it runs a bit flat. There are climaxes but for me, it's the only ending part and the starting part. I got used to it eventually though. Fitting for a really weird anime. The ending theme song is cute and sweet. Nothing much I could say. Still, I like the opening theme song more. As for the BGM...good job! xD

Characters (Rating: 8/10)

Characters development? There is but it's mostly on how Kirara slowly change. Also, there is a bit of character development for Sora. As for interaction, ooh...I only can say to you: "Enjoy your fanservice." As for the likeability and relatability of the characters, I'm not sure about reliability (other than maybe being true to yourself) but likeability...I think you should judge it for yourselves. It depends on you and your taste because of its aggressive fanservice nature.

This...I enjoy it. I think I might have angered some people. Eh. Whatever. People are way too sensitive nowadays. Whatever. However, I do need an earphone or headphones for this though. Otherwise, some of the noises and sound there...Ooh...AHEM!!!

Oh, you are still here? Good. I'm glad that you read until here. By the way, by the time, I finish writing this post and publish it, I have already finished reading the manga. It was a really quick read. I didn't expect that. Oh, man, it was really delicious. The post takes a while to get ready because of the nature of this anime. I have to make sure that nobody is watching me taking delicious screenshots of this anime (if you know what I mean).
