Anyway, after publishing the two blog posts that I've mentioned just now, I'm a bit lost on what I should publish next until I saw this post in the draft. I decided to finally get to work and talk about Love Live Sunshine's one and only movie, Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie: Over the Rainbow. Let's go!!!!
WARNING:-
SPOILER ALERT! This post is very likely to contain spoilers for this anime.
So...if you are planning to watch the anime without any spoilers, you can either
continue to read this post or move on and watch the anime.
P.S. If you want to be spoiled, well, go ahead and read it. You HAD
been warned. Don't blame me for being spoiled if you INSIST on continuing to
read this post.
Introduction
Love Live!!!
Hmmm...I believe that I do not need to introduce to you the Love Live Sunshine series as I talked about it in the previous post, like the one for Season 1 and the one for Season 2. I'm not gonna further elaborate on that. As for the movie that is titled Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie: Over the Rainbow, it was released on January 4, 2019, in Japanese theatres. Ah...the time before the pandemic hits...AHEM! Back to topic! I think that there's nothing much to say now. So, let's move on.
This is the movie poster...
Plot
That revelation...
I dun think anyone would like that treatment...
The story starts with the rest of the Aquors members after the graduation of the 3rd year students and after Aqours has won the previous Love Live! contest. As they got enrolled at a new school after the foreclosure of Uranohoshi Girls' Academy, the former 1st- and 2nd-year students encounter unexpected trouble including the rest of the Aquors members. All students who were originally from Uranohoshi, well, were sent to the branch school where the school building is practically an abandoned building. What is worse is that the rest of Aquors members have issues with their future direction after the graduation of the 3rd year students in their group.
Shiny Tsuki and You...Ya, it's this part.
The helicopter again...
As we focus on the troubles that Aquors face regarding the direction of their school idol activities, Mari's mother comes and find the girls who are on the beach talking about their troubles with their former rivals, Saint Snow who also has their trouble after Kazuno Seira (another former 3rd-year student) graduated from high school, leaving Kazuno Ria the sole member. Anyway, they were brought to Mari's house to get some convincing to search for the "missing" former 3rd-year students (Kurosawa Dia, Matsuura Kanan, and Ohara Mari)
Oh...
...we found you, Mari, Kanan and Dia!
As they went to Italy with You's cousin, Tsuki, they found the missing trio that Mari's mother asked to find. Oh, you asked about when did they meet Tsuki? Well, it wasn't too long after Aquors find out about their school-related troubles. Anyway, not long after, they found out that the trio is running away from Mari's mother. Later in the night, the group found the trio in a mansion that Mari borrowed from one of her relatives with the clue left by Mari when she throws the uniform out. Oh, yeah, that again. LMAO!
That revelation...
Oh, no...
Anyway, they then find out that Mari's mother has intentions to put her in her place with an arranged marriage. Oh. Mhmm...WAIT, WHAT?! Yeah, it was kinda awkward when it was revealed. Anyway, because of Yoshika's feather (why on earth does she have a feather), Mari's mother found them and tries to force her to go back with her. She refuses to do so and try to prove that their school idol activities weren't a fluke. They decided to give a live performance as the good old Aquors on the streets of Italy to prove her point.
Dinner time!!!
Stage performance time in Italia!
As they reunite and prepare themselves for the live performance, the former 1st and 2nd-year members of Aqours (because they will become 2nd and 3rd-year student after this) starts to talk about their troubles and issues with the former 3rd-year student. With the deep heart-to-heart talk with each other, the leader of the team, Chika found her way. Anyway, after that, long story short, their street performance in Italy was a massive hit. Well, the same kind of moment in Love Live original movie where the people chasing them down the streets after returning to Japan didn't happen though.
New stage planning!
Saint Snow is back again!...for the last time.
Old Aquors!!! Last performance from them, isn't it?
After they return to Japan, the rest of the students who transferred from Uranohoshi Girls' Academy decided to help Aquors to make a live performance stage to convince the students of their new school. During their preparation moments, Aquors decided to have a special Love Live-esque performance online with Saint Snow and with the help of Tsuki who is the head student council of their new school. That performance is to help Lia to find her way and finally move on. That's so sweet.
Another round of nostalgia trip...
Anyway, before the final live performance, all the Aquors members went on a nostalgia trip back to their old school. It was...nostalgic. AHEM! Remember that special Love Live-esque performance? Oh, the live performance was a big success, I think. I think that it was shown through the conversation of two unknown persons in the end. Anyway, let's move on, shall we?
Aquors finally found their way without the 3rd-year members.
Anime Rating
Story (Rating: 10/10)
The story plot...well, although the basic framework is quite similar to the old Love Live movie, the whole story is still fundamentally different, which is displayed in the forclosure of their school, the difficulty in their new school, performance in Italy didn't turn them into superstar etc. The plot feels fresh as it didn't follow the plot of the old Love Live story. As for the flow and pacing of the story, they are well done.
Lost their way...
Art and Animation (Rating: 9/10)
The characters as usual...they are well-drawn and...CUTE!!!!! Although there is the use of CGI (3D animation) in the performance part, the animation still feels consistent. The CGI doesn't feel out of place. Other than that, the animation of the
characters and overall arts are really still the same good quality.
Forza Italia!
Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)
I didn't give much note to the insert songs and theme song of this movie, they are still fitting for the scenarios and the plot of the story. Also, they are pretty good. That's all I can say.
Running away with music? Well, old playbook.
Characters (Rating: 10/10)
Just as you think there won't be character development, well, you are wrong. The change in school, the distrust of the parents of some students in the new school, Aquors' trouble of finding their direction etc. are incidents that will make the leftover members grow even more, EVEN Saint Snow got their pages of character development because of their adventure. What more can I say? Good stuff.
First time Yoshiko blush. xD
Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)
Conclusion of how I feel about this movie? Good. Period. The struggle, the pain, the light-hearted scenarios...all of them, I like. It's just regretful that I couldn't watch it in the theatres in my home country. Moving on...
Ah...that again...xD

Hi, readers. It has been a while I had reviewed Nagi no Asukara last month. Well, you can read my review from here . I have shown quite A LOT of screenshots on that post's main body. BUT well, my screenshot section is quite short. If you want to know the rating system that I deploy, you can refer to the 'Techincal' Anime Review List Page. You can find it on the page tabs above. Nagi no Asukara promo poster again... Well, I'm hesitating...whether to give ratings on my normal anime reviews rather than do it separately. I gave thought about it and hey, I decided to do it separately as I can do more on separately and at the same time, not making the post too long. Anyway, let's get started! WARNING:- SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven't watched it and plan to watch it without anyone being the spoiler, please DON'T CONTINUE READING!!! P.S. If you want to be spoiled, well, go ahead and read it. You have been warned.
