Introduction

This time, I post the manga cover 1st

Bocchi the Rock! (in Japanese, ぼっち・ざ・ろっく!) ...the legend...I mean the series started as a Japanese four-panel manga series. It is written and illustrated by Aki Hamaji and has been serialized in Houbunsha's seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara Max since December 2017. Its chapters have been collected in five tankōbon volumes as of November 2022.

Anime!

As for the anime television series adaptation, it is produced by CloverWorks and aired from October to December 2022. The series has been praised and loved by many. Well, me too. I love this anime so much that I put my anime review on Luminous Witches even further back. Anyway, let's move on.

Time to go!

Plot

That moment that Bocchi got her dream...

The story starts with a highly anxious and socially awkward Gotou Hitori, even as a child. Because of the interview on TV during her time at middle school, she decided to learn to play to guitar and form a band to play in the school festival. Well, she did learn the guitar. As for the band...well, to put it lightly, it never existed and of course, never played in the school festival.

Hitori the band girl

With her middle school times ended, she still longs to become a rock musician despite her struggles, whilst fulfilling her desire to one day make friends. She decided to bring her own guitar to school to hopefully get someone to talk to her about bands and make friends with her. Well, that plan failed miserably for Bocchi.

Meeting with Nijika

When she was depressed about her failures, she is suddenly given a chance to do so after she is taken in by Ijichi Nijika to become a member of her newly formed Kessoku Band after their guitarist ran away. The members of Kessoku Band are Nijika and Yamada Ryou. The first concert for Kessoku Band did not turn out exactly well because Hitori just joined the team and has no prior experience playing in a band. Also, it's because that was the band's first stage performance.

LOL. Kita screwed up...

When Bocchi (Hitori's nickname, given by Ryou) decided to help the band to get another guitarist, she found Kita Ikuyo to fill that position. Through the ups and downs and funny occurrences, Bocchi found out that Ikuyo is the runaway guitarist that Nijika mentioned. In the end, after Bocchi's push, Ikuyo decided to join the band and also, found out she actually bought a 6-string bass rather than a guitar. LOL!

Wait...WTF?

From then on, their journey as a band and Bocchi's journey to overcome her social anxiety begins. Oh, who is the vocal for Kessoku Band SO many cute and funny and hilarious moments...and also, good music vibes moments to behold throughout. Great stuff. Anyway, moving on.

Performance time!!!

Anime Rating

Story (Rating: 10/10)

A story of a shut-down socially anxious introvert joining a band of her own...interesting, I say. The story flow and pacing are good as it doesn't rush Bocchi's and the band's growth. The story is also pretty to understand.

Bocchi's 1st street performance

Art and Animation (Rating: 8/10)

The characters are cute! Also, the Bocchi glitch part really fits the situation and context of that scene...I like it. The animations are overall pretty decent.

Ah. Bocchi glitched.

Sound and Music (Rating: 10/10)

Good music throughout, especially the opening theme song. It's so fucking relatable. Will further elaborate in the next blog post. Nothing more I can say. xD

Bocchi spinning around...

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

The development of Bocchi and the band, the interaction between the members of the band and the other side character in the story...all of them are really nice and are executed well. Also, FUCK YA! Bocchi's character is so fucking relatable. Her thinking, her logic, her action, her being socially anxious, her communication issue...all of them are just like me!!! It's so FUCKING RELATABLE!!!!!!!!!!

Bocchi!!!

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

I fucking love it, especially Bocchi and the funny scene involving Bocchi in this anime. I just love it. Let's watch it again sometime!

Someone help Bocchi. She dying!

Overall Rating: 9.6 (9.5)/10

Conclusion

I wanted to write this blog post so badly but had a lot of jobs to do and a lack of inspiration to write. That's why I only managed to write it up until now. I did watch Oshi no Ko episode 1 recently. I'm feeling down and depressed. It so much pain. I cried so hard that I dun have tears to cry anymore at that time. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy reading and browsing this blog. Goodbye, and God bless you!

LOL! Bocchi!!!! Someone help her!!!
