The Ultimate Anime Review on Nanoha ViVid - A New Journey with a Bunch of Cute Girls!!!

Hi, people. I'm sorry that I didn't post anything recently as I need to prepare for my finals. Well, anyway, as Nanoha ViVid manga has ended at volume 102 (well, there could be some short spin-offs) and absolutely no official news on Nanoha ViVid season 2, I decided that it's time to release this anime review on NANOHA VIVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After I HAD finished writing the review for Nanoha and Nanoha A's, Nanoha StrikerS AND ViVid Strike, I HOPED that this missing piece of Nanoha ViVid to be completed this year or so as it ended as a somewhat incomplete series. Anyway, it looks like we move on with this. FINALLY, it's here!!! NANOHA VIVID ANIME REVIEW!!! Aren't you excited?! I'm SO excited to do this. I mean like this anime have A LOT of cute girls, RIGHT? I mean, who doesn't like CUTE GIRLS?

Oh man, I've been missing these cute girls for a while already and will miss them for a VERY LONG TIME. Oh...Ahem, sorry for the constant yelling, just a little bit over-excited. Are we good? OK? LET'S GET STARTED!!!! With what? Of course, with the business of reviewing Nanoha Vivid (sorry, no season 2 yet, probably there will be, one day).

Nanoha Vivid Season 1!

Ahem, before I go on and talk about Nanoha Vivid, I would inform you that there are a few bonus episodes, namely EPISODE 5.5, EPISODE 5.75 and EPISODE 13 for Vivid Strike. Oh yeah, I DID mention it before. Well, I won't talk much on the technicalities BUT I would tell that there is a manga of it (and it is adapted from there) and I'm following it. OK, I'm done with it, so now let's start to talk about the plot.

I've mentioned this before that I wanted to review both seasons of Nanoha Vivid because the first season didn't end at the 'proper' part, which is on a somewhat cliffhanger part. BUT since the FOURTH movie (which is just a part 2 of the 3rd movie) upcoming with ABSOLUTELY NO official announcement on Nanoha ViVid season 2, so I will just have to go with the first season. Sorry, I can't do anything about this situation. Let me say one thing about Nanoha ViVid season 2: EVEN IF Nanoha ViVid did have a season 2, it will not be aired this year! It will be at least at the end of next year since the 4th movie is upcoming next year. OK, enough with the backstory of me doing this review, let's get on with this.

Vivio going to school...bye, bye, Nanoha!

The first season of Nanoha Vivid takes place four years after the events of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. Vivio, a girl who is the reincarnation (actually, she is a clone) of the deceased Sankt Kaiser, Olivie Segbrechtis, was rescued and adopted by Takamachi Nanoha. Oh yeah, FYI, Fate becomes her godmother. Well, this girl...Yes, she is your MAIN CHARACTER for Nanoha Vivid. Yes, NOT Nanoha but a girl who is adopted and rescued by Nanoha in Nanoha StrikerS.

Vivio, back in Nanoha StrikerS...

In the story, as Vivio enters her fourth year of elementary school, she is given her own intelligence device, which is basically a stuffed rabbit. For Nanoha fans, if you had watched StrikerS, you might have noticed that Vivio had a stuffed rabbit looks exactly the same as the one but was destroyed during an attack by the villains. NOW, it is an intelligence device for well, magic, of course. Anyway, she named it Sacred Heart and gives it a nickname, Chris. You might ask, 'Why is it called Chris? It makes no sense.' Well, BECAUSE in Japanese, it (the name, Sacred Heart) is pronounced as セイクリッド・ハート (Seikuriddo hāto) and its nickname, Chris in Japanese, is クリス (Kurisu). The nickname is basically just セイクリッド・ハート  (Seikuriddo hāto) and just add the character,「ス」(su) behind. Did you get it? If you don't, never mind, let's move on.

With that, she then uses it transform using her adult Sankt Kaiser Mode (Spoiler alert, in the Nanoha Vivid manga, she did this without the assistance of the device). Later, we get to know a rogue fighter that goes around challenging random strangers. Well, who is that? Get the drums rolling...It's Einhart Stratos!!! She is similar to Vivio, is a descendant of another Sankt Kaiser ruler, Claus G.S. Ingvalt. Why did she fight? She wanted to prove her fighting style is the strongest. Under numerous circumstances, she became acquainted and befriends Vivio and her friends (who are also Vivio's classmate). They also enter a magical martial arts tournament where they fight against various magical opponents and began to learn a bit about their Ancient Belkan ancestor's past lives. Oh yeah, BTW, Einhart also got her own intelligence device, which is she named it Asteon (アスティオン) and gives the nickname as Teo (ティオ), which is basically アスティオン. Why did she name her device Asteon? Well, you'll have to watch the anime yourself (or read the manga).

Well, as for the second season, it starts with the 'paused' (or should I say end halfway awkwardly on Season 1) tournament arc. If you have finished season 1, you would know that there will a fight between Vivio and Miura, Einhart and Siege, AND Rio vs Hallie (ハリー, giving the Japanese name as the proper spelling of her first name is yet to be canonically clarified). Anyway, in the story, after the fights ended, they finally get to fully learn about their Ancient Belkan ancestor's past lives through Siege's ancestor's writings, although not without meeting some minor disruptions and fights in the Infinity Library. With this revelation, Vivio is set out to 'put' Einhart out from her misery as the result of her lingering in her ancestor's past lives and feelings, get Einhart to look towards the time from her present and to no longer linger at the past lives of her ancestors. How she would achieve that? Well, beating Einhart up, I guess? It doesn't make sense, just deal with it. It's just a 'running theme' of the Nanoha series.

I watched the anime 1st season a while back. I enjoyed it, and it was good. There is a good amount of cute and dramatic scenes. As for the 2nd season...oh yeah, the second season of Nanoha ViVid does not exist yet...never mind. OK, let's move on from here. Shall we?

Story (Rating: 8/10)

Oh yeah, cute girls...Ahem, sorry. Regarding the story, the anime portrays the story of Vivio growing up together with her friends very well. A good amount of light-hearted moments, a good amount of intense moments and...emotional moments. BEAUTIFUL. The downside is this anime's story ends as a somewhat cliffhanger and an incomplete series. So, there is a minus on this series.

Art and Animation (Rating: 8/10)

The animation...I liked it. Well, maybe because I'm biased. Hahaha!!! Anyway, the animation is good really. I loved how the characters are drawn. Well, Hayate is drawn slightly different from StrikerS. Seriously, Hayate in StrikerS looks MUCH better.

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

I really love the opening theme song and ending song of the 'first season'. The OP for 'season 1' is so powerful and the ED for 'season 1' is SO CUTE!!! It fits VERY well with the nature and plot of the story.

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

Duh! Full marks for this. I loved Vivio, Corona, Einhart, Rio...ALL OF THEM!!! I loved the character development of Einhart especially. Well, there also other people who experienced numerous development in character within the story. I'm just biased mostly because I'm a Nanoha series fan and also a HUGE fan of cute girls. Tehee! Anyway, let's move on.

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

I really enjoyed. First, it's because the girls are SO CUTE!!!! Don't judge me, if you like cute girls also. Well, the story is a nice, cute, light turn to the usually bloody (like seriously, literally) and sometimes dark story. I loved it. Nowadays, I don't usually look into fanservice anymore but the fanservice is actually quite funny(Well, there is only one.). Anyway, I loved it.

This post is longer than the recent anime reviews, right? Well, that's because I'm biased. I admit it with pride. I love Nanoha ViVid so much. Hehe...BTW, it looks like the 'news' on a possible Nanoha ViVid season 2 is based a poster on the pachinko (Basically, a game machine). So, yeah, it's probably a highly speculative one.
