No Game, No Life! Literally!!!!

Hi, people. Welcome!!!! Today, once again, I'm here to talk about anime! Wait...since when I'm not doing that? Well, I have just watched No Game No Life Zero recently. It was amazing but sadly, still no season 2. We might have to wait since the movie just came out about less than a year ago (as per the date when the post is written).

Found this on the internet. Nice, isn't it?

So...let's move on and talk about No Game No Life! I will only briefly introduce the movie to you as I will do a separate topic on the movie itself. Anyway, let's get back to the topic at hand and start!!!

WARNING:-

SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven't watched it and plan to watch it without anyone being the spoiler, please DON'T CONTINUE READING!!!

P.S. If you want to be spoiled, well, go ahead and read it. You HAD been warned. Don't blame me for being spoiled if you INSIST on continuing to read this post.

Introduction

The anime...

YES!!! Ahem...anyway, No Game No Life is actually a light novel series written by Kamiya Yū and wait...who draws the illustration in the LN? Is it Kamiya Yū also?! Anyway, I think so but let's move on. The light novel (LN) is published under the MF Bunko J imprint starting from April 25, 2012. Weirdly, somehow...the same author drawn the manga for No Game No Life, together with his wife, Hiiragi Mashiro, which is adapted from the LN. The manga is published in Monthly Comic Alive back in 2013. As for anime, it was premiered on AT-X between April and July 2014. Oh, there is also a special OVA, which is...I would say that there are sections that are not actually...OK, let's move on!

The light novel...

Remember that I talked about No Game No Life Zero just now? It is the anime movie for the No Game No Life. And...the story is a prequel to the series itself. I won't further elaborate it for you. I will make a separate post for it. The movie was premiered on July 15, 2017. There is also a spinoff manga, No Game No Life, Please!, which focuses on the character Izuna. The manga ran from May 27, 2015, to November 27, 2017. With this matter settles, let's move on.

The movie...

Plot

Their past...sounds like the reality of this world.

The story starts with two stepsiblings, Sora, the older stepbrother and Shiro, the younger stepsister. There is not much of background story of them. Anyway, back to the story. They are what we call NEET (stands for Not in Education, Employment or Training), or just hikikomori (means the one that stays at home, in Japanese). Why? Because the world is a shitty game. I agree.

NEETs...

Those two make up the super and an undefeated group of gamers, Blank (In Japanese, 空白), which is stylized as『 』. One fateful day, they are challenged by the god of games (from Disboard) to a game of chess and are victorious. Because of that victory, the god summons them to Disboard, which is another world. Yes, it is another isekai anime. If u dun like isekai anime, my question is, "Why have you decided to come here or maybe have watched it?". Anyway, just a question for people who say that they dun like isekai anime but decided to read on. Back to the topic.

Falling from the sky...

This world revolves around games ever since the world war that is depicted in No Game No Life Zero ended thousands of years ago. Yes, I have told you a glimpse of the NGNL Zero story. OK, back to the story. With them stuck in the new world, they are out to know this world and its rules. After defeating a bunch of robbers, they found out that the world that there are the Ten Pledges that prevents the citizens of Disboard from inflicting harm on one another. This forces them to resolve their differences by gambling with games whose rules and rewards are magically enforced. What are the Ten Pledges? That...you have to find out.

A bit of a history lesson...

Anyway, they defeated someone before witnessing another game where Stephanie Dola is participating, which he founds out that the opposing player is cheating with the help of another person. Through multiple circumstances, the two participate in a tournament to determine the next ruler of the human kingdom, Elkia. And of course, they win the crown with some twist. LMAO!

That game...lol!

By winning the crown, they earn the right to challenge the Disboard's other species as humanity's representative. They did challenge a few races...but I'm not gonna further elaborate on that. They are good and at times, funny. Anyway, their ultimate goal is to conquer all sixteen species in order to challenge Tet to a game and to usurp the god of games, Tet.

Stating their final aim...

The story is quite amazing and has the potential to have multiple seasons but so far there is only the prequel, No Game No Life Zero and no announcement of a next season. Anyway, they are people who don't like the fact that some of the fanservice that includes Sora. Well, for me, I focus on the way they win every game and the storyline. OK, with that said, time to move on.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Anime Rating

Story (Rating: 9/10)

The different scene of the siblings defeating different challengers is so good to watch (Well, for most parts, it's more like the one being challenged). This is the main story of the whole anime. It is SO GOOD! The comedy is quite good too. Then, why only 9 points? Because of the fanservice involving Sora. Honestly, I dun care (as I'm more concerned about the story) but I do this for some level of objectivity. Deal with it.

The game...with Jibril.

Art and Animation (Rating: 9/10)

The art and animation are quite good. Well, the amazing explosion and animation during the games are so good to watch and bring out the intensity of the games. The art is well-drawn and brings out the beautiful scenery of Disboard.

Nice, right?

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

BGM? Decent and well-placed. Opening song? My favourite at the time. Good song and also pretty powerful. The ending song? Well, not really my cup of tea but I say it is pretty decent.

The siblings...

Characters (Rating: 8/10)

The characters are quite interesting. There are also a number of cute loli characters like Sora and Izuna. Anyway, the character development is much less onto the main characters, Sora and Shiro as they still act the way that they are previously. Well, it is good as the reason why they win is that they use the winning method that they had used in their previous world. The change of character mostly occurs in the side characters although sometimes in weird ways like Jibril. The character can be cute at times, you know. And...also really hilarious.

The weird Jibril...

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

I enjoyed!!!! Enjoy this anime a lot!!! The intensity of the gameplay, the intensity of the investigation and the funny scene are the things that make this story worth watching! I will watch it when I've got the time.

LMAO! This scene!

Shiro broke...

Overall Rating:  8.8 (8.5)/10
