Show By Rock!!

Show By Rock!! #

I wanted to review the first season only BUT I never thought that there will be a second season. SO, I decided to review both of them. OK, enough with the back story of me doing this review, let's get on with this.

Can we get on with this now?

The first season (which is just Show by Rock, duh!), start with the main character, a very shy girl named Cyan Hijirikawa. She is a first-year high school student who has a good passion for music BUT doesn't have the courage to join the school's music club. One night, she played rhythm game on her smartphone and get a new item called "Strawberry Heart". BAM! She got sucked into the rhythm game. Wait a minute...where have I heard these type of storyline before? Hmm...never mind, let's move on.

Shy Cyan tries to join a band...Well, she failed.

Oh, a new item!

Cyan got dragged into another world...

Well, she ended up in a new world called Midi City, a place where those who command music controls everything. To cut the long story short, she uses the item that is materialised in her hands, which is Strawberry Heart to defeat the monster that attacked the band that was holding the concert. AND then, an egg-like character, Maple Arisugawa who is the CEO of Banded Rocking Records (or short form, BRR) approached her and asked her to join his recording agency. She meets ChuChu, Retoree, and Moa, the vocalist, bassist, and drummer of Plasmagica, one of BRR's bands. The shy Retoree asks Cyan to join, and she accepts. Soon, Cyan found out that she is here to fight the Dark Monster problem. AND SO, she, together with the band members tackle it and of course, perform together as a band. Well, as for Cyan, she will be finding a way to get back to her own world, other than just tackling the Dark Monster problem and performing together with the band.

Why Cyan suddenly becomes a catgirl?

Shingan CrimsonZ...overly dramatic bunch of people

As for the second season (which is named as Show by Rock #), it is set after the events of the first season. Well, Cyan? She returned to her world during the first season and join the band in her school. BTW, the second season starts with an intergalactic fleet led by the malevolent Queen of Darkness, Victorious, attacked Sound Planet and destroyed Midi City. After that, a mysterious band named Bud Virgin Logic, together with Dagger Morse, drain the remaining people of their sound energy and plunging the city into chaos and despair.

Destroying Sound Planet...

OK...Who is Bud Virgin Logic?

Dagger again?!

A devasted Midi city...

Well, that escalated quickly, right? Wait, we have a group of SOLE survivors of this disaster, the band named Ninjinriot. They decided to travel back in time to prevent the incident from happening and somehow, save Plasmagica members (excluding Cyan as she was back in the Human World) during a beneficiary concert from the hands of Bud Virgin Logic and Dagger Morse. Cyan is transported back to the Sound World by Kamui, a member of Ninjinriot who arrived in the Human World. With Cyan and her friends being informed of that dark future, they will have to stop Dagger AGAIN, PLUS Victorious from destroying Sound Universe.

Ninjinriot, the survivors

Cyan is back!!! kuru, kuru...nya...

Victorious, the Queen of Darkness

I watched the anime 1st season a while back. I enjoyed it, it was good. There is a good amount of comedy and a good amount of music and action. Same for the 2nd season, except that it has some element of drama when flashing Victorious' past and during the time after Victorious is defeated (and was in some sort of trance). I would say that BOTH seasons is GOOD, like really good. Oh yeah, I had a blog post that announces the list of anime that I'll rate for now. There will be MORE, trust me. OK, let's move on from here. Shall we?
