Introduction

The anime cover...

The anime, SukaSuka, short for Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka? (in Japanese, 終末なにしてますか? 忙しいですか? 救ってもらっていいですか?) is a Japanese light novel series written by Akira Kareno and illustrated by Ue. Well, it is given an English name, World End, short for What Do You Do at the End of the World? Are You Busy? Will You Save Us?. Well, this is the reason why my title is as such because the title of the anime is REALLY LONG compared to those anime that have a long name like Anohana and Isekai wa Sumātofon to Tomo ni (or should I give this anime short form, which I give it as Isekaifon or maybe Isefon? Well, anyway someone had given the short form, Isesuma for this anime apparently.)

The novel cover for the 1st volume

Anyway, the novel's 1st volume was published by Kadokawa Shoten under their Sneaker Bunko imprint in November 2014, with the series ending with the release of the fifth volume in April 2016. There is a sequel series, which is titled Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Mou Ichido dake, Aemasu ka? (in Japanese, 終末なにしてますか? もう一度だけ、会えますか?), also known as SukaMoka. It began its publication in April 2016 starting with the 1st volume (of course, duh), with the second volume being released on July 1, 2016. Well, it's still ongoing so we can expect the continuation of SukaSuka's storyline. I believe it won't be named SukaSuka Season 2 but it will be just named SukaMoka. Well, it sounds like the Monogatari series, which is a series that I had decided to stop halfway and decided to drop it.

Plot

The desolate world of SukaSuka...

OK, this anime starts with a dystopian world destroyed by the fearsome and mysterious "Beasts" and a world where the human race is almost extinct. We are introduced to a man, yes a human being, not some lizardman or something like that, Willem Kmetsch, who was petrified for 500 years in his final battle against Eboncandle. As he is badly injured and damage to fight anymore, so he becomes the advisor to the "Fairies" or the 'more technical' term, Leprechauns.

The warehouse that I was talking about

Although he does struggle to come to terms with his new life and still feels the pain of his past and the losing of the family that he once had so long ago, he eventually learns to accept this new family of Leprechauns and comes to love them and wanted to protect them. Well, there are also other races like the trolls, wolf-like humans, and lizardmen. Anyway, these surviving races(other than humans since they are extinct) now make their homes, towns, and cities up on floating islands in the sky to keep out of reach of all but the most mobile of Beasts, which are called Timere.

The cute girls...Lakhesh, Tiat, Pannibal and Colon.

Only a group of young girls dubbed the Leprechauns or as it is called more commonly called fairies, can wield the ancient Dug Weapons or Carillons (it was once given this name), which are needed to fend off invasions from those dangerous creatures. Yes, I repeated it again. So yeah, Willem is taking the girls, I mean the Leprechauns, in the so-called special weapons warehouse. Well, it was a place for the girls to stay.

Cute Chtholly...

Anyway, putting the technicalities aside, the story is consistently riding the emo-ride and sometimes the occasional sweet moments. Well, the story usually revolves around Willem, Chtholly, Nephren, and Ithea. Well, we do see other characters like Rhantolk, Nopht, Almita, the usually sticking together lolis (Collon, Pannibal, Tiat and Lakhesh) and many other minor characters. The story involves someone's slow breaking down of memory and character, which is very painful to watch as she is one of my favourite characters in the series. She is most people's favourite character as well. Sorry, I won't spoil who is the character for the people who decide to read it...Never mind, I was talking about Chtholly. She is the one. Anyway, let's move on.

The breaking down...

Anime Rating

Story (Rating: 10/10)

The story starts on a light note and ends on a bittersweet note. It is really a good story. There are a lot of emotions contained within this show. Happy moments, sad moments and much more other funny moments. There are a lot of things that cannot be described with just words. You have to watch the anime yourselves to understand.

Chtholly just wanted to get married...

Art and Animation (Rating: 7/10)

The arts and animation of this anime are pretty much quite standard. I would admit the fighting part is animated quite well. Otherwise, pretty average. There is nothing, in particular regarding the art and animation, that is very outstanding.

Fight, Chtholly! Fight!

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

The background music is quite good. Well placed throughout the anime. The opening song is my favourite but the ending song is fine also though. Well, most of the time people like the opening song of an anime but there are some exceptions like Chuunibyou and Busou Shoujo.

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

Loveable characters. Full stop. Well, you have the cute, tsundere Chtholly. You can have the cute, emotionless Nephren, or maybe the boisterous and cheerful Ithea. Well, there are quite a few fan services here and there in the series. Oh, you were asking where is it? I'm not gonna tell you. You've to find out yourself. Hehe...

Ithea's suggestions...for a girlfriend. Must be fresh-faced and moody, huh...

Enjoyment (Rating: 9/10)

The series is enjoyable with a good amount of cliffhangers in place and plenty of light-hearted and cute moments. The only thing that is not that satisfying is that the ending makes me crave for more of it and the ending is heartbreaking to watch. Seriously, you might need to prepare some tissue or maybe prepare the whole tissue box.

OVERALL Rating: 8.6 (8.5)/10

Thank you, really. Hope to see you again. Goodbye, and God bless you.
