Well, I did mention Aikatsu before previously but it is VERY long. I wanted to slot in the rating there but it will make it too long to read. Anyway, this post would probably be quite long BUT hey, I will give Aikatsu the rating in this post. So, let's go!!!

WARNING:-

SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven't watched it and plan to watch it without anyone being the spoiler, please DON'T CONTINUE READING!!!

P.S. If you want to be spoiled, well, go ahead and read it. You HAD been warned. Don't blame me for being spoiled if you INSIST on continuing to read this post.

Season 1

Story (Rating: 10/10)

The story starts with...wait for a second, I'm not supposed to start with that, isn't it? Anyway, the story starts with a bento girl who became a star who almost defeats Kanzaki Mizuki in the Starlight Queen Cup. The progress is although filled with multiple filler episodes BUT...these episodes are vital to the build-up to that climax.

That dramatic entrance...

Art and Animation (Rating: 6/10)

The animation is quite consistent, a standard idol anime. They will usually switch to 3D animation during the characters' performance. The look of the character...they are...I would say, had distinct looks. As for movement, well, I am not too particular about it unless there is an unnatural movement to deduct points. No unnatural movements in this anime BTW.

When Yurika first appeared...

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

The many insert song and the OP and ED songs are pretty good. Well, I like the insert songs more. Oh yeah, you will find out that the OP and ED songs are sometimes sung as an insert song. Well, just to let you know. Anyway, BGM is just fine. Nothing bad about it.

Tristar!

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

Development of characters, you say? Well, there is a HUGE BUNCH. Main characters and almost all minor character (not including nameless characters) get some character development. The ups and downs of Ichigo's development as a star shows that she is not the overpowered, the 'can do anything' character, which put her pretty down to Earth, down to reality and of course, much more relatable to the audience. Well played, Bandai. Well played.

What are you doing?

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

You asked did I enjoy watching it? YES! Of course! You asked will I watch it again if people ask me to watch it with them? ABSOLUTELY! This anime is an anime that makes me wanna chase after Ichigo's development as a star and the assembly of Ichigo's gang. I really enjoyed it. This anime is probably one of the more underrated (more like less popular) idol anime in the industry.

Enjoying...

Overall Rating: 8.8 (8.5)/10

Season 2

Story (Rating: 10/10)

Similar to the previous season, the story still mostly surrounds the girls from Starlight Academy. But there is a TWIST. New characters! Like this is not gonna happen. Dream Academy appears and disrupts the dominance of Starlight Academy until Ichigo comes back from America and puts the two academies on a rivalry! Yeah! Well, there is also the return of Mizuki (who puts her idol activities on a hiatus), together with another new character, Mikuru. Anyway, for me, it's all good until Akari comes in. It does pave the way for another season and I did eventually like Akari but it took me some time to accept her. The story is still at large, GREAT, as good as the previous season.

There is tension between them...

Art and Animation (Rating: 6/10)

The animation is at large quite the same as the previous season since it continues from the previous season. So there will be pretty much no change. DUH!

Ichigo!!!

Sound and Music (Rating: 9/10)

Oh, about the BGM in the anime? Well...Just fine, it's usually not the main focus, isn't it? Anyway, as for OPs and EDs, they are great. As for insert songs, there are a few songs that I like.

Oh yeah, Seira is not bad too!

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

Similar to the previous season, the story still mostly surrounds the girls from Starlight Academy and a bunch of new characters! Oh, development of characters, you ask? Well, there is a HUGE BUNCH. Main characters and almost all minor character (not including nameless characters), AND also NEW CHARACTERS get some character development. Still, the same thing (well, not exactly) but new challenges arise for the girls to overcome. That's all. The new challenges spice up the anime but it will not last for the new season. AND that is why Oozora Akari comes in.

Oozora Akari 1st appearance...

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

Like the previous season...I enjoyed it VERY MUCH. Well, although initially the introduction Akari does ruin a bit of fun for me, it eventually contributes to the viewing experience later on in the next 'season'. Oops, I shouldn't really call them seasons, right? Well, never mind that. Let's move on.

2wingS!!!

Season 3

Story (Rating: 10/10)

The story from year 3 onwards (or season 3, if you prefer) is slightly different than the previous years. The story moves from making Ichigo the focus to slowly transitioning to making Akari the focus. That when Akari starts to 'assemble' her harem, no, I'm just joking. It just her gang, her best pals that will be with her throughout the remainder of the series. You have Sumire and Hinaki (my favourite character and my waifu. Haha, I said it!) joining Akari's gang. Anyway, where I start to like Oozora Akari. If you watch this 'season' PROPERLY, you will see that Akari works hard to succeed. You might say that it's because of people helped her BUT really? Who had ever succeeded anything based on ONLY his/ her own work? ALL scientific research was based on OUR previous generation's work. ALL of what we have and are working on now were based on the efforts of OUR PREDECESSOR! Really...so don't complain about Akari's success. I did rant about Akari's hater before. Well, let's not get into that here. You can read it here.

Well, she had it hard...

Art and Animation (Rating: 6/10)

Well, the animation is at large quite the same as the previous season since it continues from the previous season. So there will be pretty much no change. Nothing much here and nothing weird.

Well, Akari falls quite smoothly into Hinaki's arms.

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

Well, I will give a full mark for this. Why? There is A LOT of the songs in this 'season' that I really like. That's all. Of course, there are so many songs that I WILL NOT LIKE EVERY SONG. Like, duh, stating the obvious guy!

Luminas!

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

The gang of Akari is really cute and nice to watch. Well, although there is not much of development for Ichigo and her gang anymore, the development of the new characters are also good to watch. Not to mention also...Akari and her gang! I like each and every one of them (well, with me declaring that Hinaki is my waifu. Hehe...)! Anyway, it's as enjoyable as the previous 'season'.

The trio! I love them all!!!

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

Just like the previous 'season', I pretty enjoy it. I like Akari's gang and their growth. Although the focus is no longer on Ichigo, it still pretty good to watch.

The reformation of Tristar...

Overall Rating: 8.8 (8.5)/10

Season 4

Story (Rating: 9/10)

Well, this is the last one...still pretty to the previous 'season'. BUT that at this point, the story starts to lose its lustre. The addition of new characters is kind of getting too old and getting a lesser room for development makes it having lesser lustre than its predecessor. You can also see it through the introduction of a much lesser amount of new character during this 'season'. Anyway, this 'season' is not all bad as I start to like Akari and her gang.

The two new characters: Nono and Risa

Art and Animation (Rating: 6/10)

Obviously the same as all other 'seasons' because it's actually one continuous anime. The reason why I divided them because the different years have a slight change in the direction of the story. So yeah, back to the topic, the animation is at large quite the same as the previous season so yeah, not much of changes. Nothing much and nothing weird.

Oozora Akari!!!

Sound and Music (Rating: 10/10)

Well, full marks again! I love the OP and ED songs! The insert songs are quite good also. Hehe...so full marks. It's my review. Deal with it. Hehe...

Nono and Risa

Characters (Rating: 9/10)

In this season, this is where I started to fall in love with Shinjo Hinaki and truly like Oozora Akari. Ah, back in those days. Anyway, back to the topic, the characters are likeable but for me, except for some of the new characters from Hokkaido. Not that I don't like them but I just kinda like OK on their introduction. Anyway, there is obviously still got a good amount of character development BUT at this point, the story was gonna come to an end. So, it gives me a bit of sadness when watching it. All good things come to an end, right? Anyway...yeah, that's why no full marks.

Oh...Akari...

Enjoyment (Rating: 9/10)

Unlike the previous 'season', it kind of complicated. I loved the final showdown on who is to be the Starlight Queen BUT at the same time, the addition of the new character is not exactly the type that I like and this style of progress is getting a bit old. Plus, the 'season' is kind of cut short to make way for Aikatsu Star. So, no full marks.

It's already the end...

Overall Rating: 8.6 (8.5)/10

Conclusion

Well, in conclusion, the anime gets slightly worse at the end since it's running out of materials to continue the story (at least, that is what I think). I would probably talk about the movies separately (well, I did talk about it before but without any sort of points giving). Anyway, I hoped that you guys enjoyed it and see you next time.

Aikatsu!
