Reflecting on Life? Just Watch Nanoha Reflection! Just Kidding.

Hi, people! Do you remember? I told you that I had just watched Nanoha Reflection just a few weeks back. It was a really good viewing experience! I REALLY enjoyed it.

Iris and Kyrie...

Well, I will be spoiling a bit on the movie itself on this post. OK, I need to state something important here. If you have not watched the Nanoha season 1 and 2 (or if you like movie 1 and 2), you will be confused while watching the movie because most of the side characters are ONLY mentioned briefly in this movie. To be honest, the movie feels a bit like the directors are rushing to introduce the action part of the movie. The action part is good but not worth the rush. Anyway, let's start!

WARNING:-

SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven't watched it and plan to watch it without anyone being the spoiler, please DON'T CONTINUE READING!!!

P.S. If you want to be spoiled, well, go ahead and read it. You HAD been warned. Don't blame me for being spoiled if you INSIST on continuing to read this post.

Introduction

OK, let's start with the minimal intro here since I had done it quite a while ago. You can go and read it. It currently has over 100 views, which is rare and only my review of Trinity Seven has more (and also my review of Aikatsu Stars and Aikatsu 3rd movie has over 100 views). Since I can't find any screenshots of this movie, for now, I will add in the screenshots whenever possible. Will update you guys on that.

Kyrie and Amitie

Plot

The happy Florian family...

Okay, let's get into the plot ASAP. The story starts with two sisters, Amitie and Kyrie Florian, with their family live on a dying planet, Eltria. Their father, Grants Florian is a researcher who is working hard on revitalizing the planet. Well, the settings of this story are similar to The Gears of Destiny.

The dying professor

However, their father later collapses from his illness, leading the dream to the brink of crumbling. As Amitie and her mother, Elenora Florian, take care of their dying father, Kyrie decides to go in search of a way to save her father and to revive the planet in a "different world far away". Her older sister Amitie tries to stop her, but Kyrie rejects her control and goes on a journey to the different world along with her childhood and best friend Iris. Who is Iris, you ask? Iris is introduced as an AI that is found by Kyrie during her childhood at the start of the story, that's it. BUT there is a catch...Will tell you a bit later.

Iris confirms Kyrie's resolve...

Their destination is Japan, a small island country on the planet called "Earth." Kirie and Iris, looking for the key to revive their planet, Examia (also called the Eternal Crystal, which you will see later that it actually doesn't really do what Kyrie wants), visit three girls who live in Japan. The three girls are Nanoha Takamachi, Fate Testarossa, and Hayate Yagami. Their encounter will be linked to the battle which would decide the fate of the two worlds and two planets.

That crystal...

Meanwhile, before their encounter, Nanoha and Fate are going on a trip for their summer self-research homework. They went to a theme park to do so, together with Nanoha's childhood friends, Alisa Bannings and Suzuka Tsukimura. Their parents also went together with them. BTW, at this point in time, Lindy Harlaown has already adopted Fate as her daughter and is also in the group of parents that go to the theme park with the girls. Hayate will also be meeting up with them after their visit to the theme park.

Amitie to the rescue!

BUT on the way, Hayate met Iris and fought with her but she lost and loses her own magical tome, which used to be the Book of Darkness. Of course, we had the Wolkenritter but they are on duty. Before the whole mess started and even before they went to the theme park, Alisa and Suzuka watched Nanoha, Fate and Hayate's magical training. OK, let's get to the mess.

From left: Nanoha, Amitie, Fate

Kyrie went to Nanoha and Fate to fight them and distract them from saving Hayate. And then, Kyrie's sister, Amitie defeated Iris' plan and try to stop Kyrie from further disrupting the Earth. Kyrie succeeded in her escape and activated the key for the Examia from the Hayate's tome with the help of Iris. The core turns out to be Material-D, Material-L and Material-S, which is basically, in this movie, Dearche, Levi and Stren. The 'Material name' is actually only in The Battle of Ace and The Gears of Destiny game. Anyway, the three people will be sent out to create chaos for Nanoha and her friends to settle while Kyrie and Iris take the 'final prize', the Examia, which is actually a crystal found in the aquarium near the theme park.

That crystal again...

Well, there is a plot twist, the crystal DOES NOT have what Kyrie wants but provides ONLY what Iris wants, a revived Yuri in which she could control with the virus implanted in her. Kyrie left broken after finding out that Iris had used her to obtain the Examia and had NEVER really cared about her. Iris also revealed that she is NOT an AI but a soul stuck to the panel that Kyrie found. Iris uses her power to create a physical body for herself using her powers and the blood of the bureau people surrounding them. Iris wanted control Yuri to fight with the elements in order to destroy everything and leave her devastated just what happened to her many years ago.

Oh, that revelation...

Just as everything is about to go bad, Nanoha comes out with her new magic mode, Formula, which is the magic that Iris, Kyrie and Amitie uses. At the end of the movie, almost everybody who had magic had come into the fight. Fate also got the Formula mode for her magical staff. Anyway, there is a lot of things to talk about in this anime.

Yuri awakens!

Anime Rating

Story (Rating: 7/10)

The story is good but most of the character introduction is rushed (usually minor characters) AND only Nanoha fans and people who had watched at least season 1 and 2 could understand it. This could obviously 'BREAK' the prospect of any newcomers to the Nanoha series but this is NOT my greatest concern. The story feels a little rushed when the hype is over for me and I started to think about it. The sudden little chat between Fate and Levi is really funny and enjoyable. Some of the funny little inserts are really funny. Anyway, that is my thought. Detonation will probably be about the same but it could probably be really good.

Kyrie vs Amitie. Oh yeah, Fate and Nanoha tries to calm Kyrie down but fails.

Art and Animation (Rating: 9/10)

The animation? Awesome! I like the fight animation! The point is quite high? Don't worry about that. It is not the most important component of an anime in general BUT STILL, important.

Kyrie vs Fate

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)

The music? I didn't really notice much of the BGM because I was pretty focused on the story. Well, since the BGM obviously contribute to my attention on the movie so I will give a 'great' grade. As for the song at the end of the movie, well, it's quite decent. Oh, the sound effects? Obviously great!

Nanoha's formula mode!

Characters (Rating: 9/10)

The main character? Great drawing of them and I really like them. The development of character? Virtually almost non-existent to little. Fate finally able to call Lindy "mother" is not a very big deal even though it took her a lot of courage. The character mostly had their resolve in them throughout the movie so nothing very interesting in terms of character development. BUT in terms of them being cute, I admit...they are CUTE!!!

Aww...Levi, you are cute but sorry...

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

In spite of quite a number of negative that I pointed out here, I enjoyed it as a Nanoha fan. Seeing a sequel or an expansion of MY favourite series coming to pass is a really exciting and enjoyable experience. I loved it! If you watch as an ordinary viewer, you will probably not enjoy it as much as I do because of some of the negatives that I stated or maybe you have more. Anyway, it's time for the screenshots (not that there is any at the point of publishing).

Fun times...

Overall Rating: 8.6 (8.25)/10

Conclusion

I will be posting a few deep-dive series after this post including a post on my thoughts on this movie. Sorry for not posting a lot of screenshots (when it's first published). Seeing that there is close nobody saying about the movie after watching, I decided that I should do it. Will add in the screenshots and post an update on it. Well, that's the end. Hope you all enjoy it. So yeah, hope to see ya again. Goodbye, and God bless you!

Although they are the antagonist, aren't they cute?
