Hi, people! Enjoy your time being stuck at home? Oh, you are an extrovert and you hate this? Oh? Well, just like every introvert (including me), we feel very sorry for you. Ganbatte, dear extroverts! Don't worry, you won't die by just being stuck at home. Well, unless you...OK, not gonna say it. I'm sorry.
Cannot tease too much...modern human beings are too sensitive.

Introduction
|
Good anime poster... |
This death or life series, Darwin's Game (in Japanese, ダーウィンズゲーム) starts off as a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by FLIPFLOPs. Interestingly, unlike many of the series that I talked about, this series has absolutely no adaptation other than the anime adaptation. Anyway, the anime television series adaptation is done by Nexus and premiered on January 3, 2020 (and just ended not too long ago). OK, with that (and having the shortest intro for an anime review posts in my blog post EVER), time to move on!

Volume 1 of the manga... |
Plot
|
Wow...death... |
The story starts with the death of a guy (whose name is Hamada) who knows the MC, Sudou Kaname. Oh, how did he die? Well, he was murdered...I got the feeling that you are screaming in unbelief. And also, no police is involved...for real, no police came to the scene. I got the feeling that you are screaming even louder in unbelief and have blown off the roof (or celling) on top of you. OK, calm down, calm down. It's not real life, OK? ...Hmmm...You OK now? OK? Good. You are calm. Let's move on.
|
The three friends... |
The MC, Kaname, accepted the online invitation by a friend (now dead) to play an app game called Darwin's Game. After accepting the invitation, the snake came out and bite him on the neck. Wait...what?! Yes, it happened. He was then brought to the infirmary and later went home when he woke up. His other friend, Kyōda, tried to stop Kaname to accept the invitation and tried to explain to him the game, which either failed or hardly able to do so.
|
Kaname vs the bear guy, Banda-kun. |
Anyway, with Kaname stuck in Darwin's Game with few to no guide to go through the game, he has to fight for his life. After defeating the mascot guy (known as Banda-kun), he proceeds to try to make sense of Darwin's Game, the namesake of the series and is a death game in the series. Later, he finds himself in a position to fight against Karino Shuka, a player with the title "Undefeated Queen" after trying to make sense of the game by meeting her and failed to convince her that he's trustworthy. He defeated her with an interesting sigil and with a good planning skill. From then on, Shuka falls in love with him and desires to make a family with him (OK, that sounds a bit...ahem!).

Ooh, pretty girl...ask anything that in my capability to do. |
Oh, before I move on, let me do a little explaining regarding the game, Darwin's Game. Remember the snake that bit Kaname? That bite gives Kaname and the players in Darwin's Game special powers and a mark on the neck. That power is called Sigil. That mark...I dunno. No mention of it. And yes, Darwin's Game is a death game and the reason why Hamada died. And also, the players always refer the game as D Game to not die because of accidentally exposing the game.
|
Rein and Kaname during the big event... |
Anyway, back to the story. From then on, Kaname goes through a big event and a few encounters at the beginning of his "career", which results in him being determined to clear the game and seek out and kill the Game Master by creating the clan. Oh, BTW, that "family" that Shuka talks about is to be in the same clan as Kaname (but I think it is also "that"...ahem!).Wow...bloody. Yeah, it is bloody. Deal with it. Anyway, it is one heck of a bloody journey for Kaname after he begins his journey as a D Game player. Also, one thing, the reason why I start watching this anime is because of Shuka. OK, with that, time to move on.

Anime Rating
Story (Rating: 10/10)
The story is has a really good plot. It has the suspense to keep us in the series, makes me hope that this anime series will get a second season. OMG!!!! The resolution of incidents after another is just tantalising to watch. The plot is just so good!!! The flow and pacing are just right, emphasizing very important encounters and arc very well. The story is pretty easy to understand, no weird complicated plots.

Time to beat this fucking game... |
Art and Animation (Rating: 10/10)
Just exhilarating to watch!!!!! The character is pretty cute, especially Shuka and Rein. The animation and art are good and consistent. The exciting and exhilarating fighting scenes are well-expressed and well-displayed by the fighting animations.
|
Wow...what a skill that Rein has. |
Sound and Music (Rating: 10/10)
Good theme songs! I like them both (OP and ED)! The songs give the vibe and the atmosphere of the story, right on point! The BGMs are also good though. Good stuff there

Good title screen... |
Characters (Rating: 10/10)
The character development of different characters is pretty exhilarating to watch, especially Kaname. The character development of Kaname is amazing, from a newbie to an expert player. His calm thinking and ability allowed to survive the game and even beat a strong clan. Although he failed to save his friends, he decided to move on and determine this death game once and for all. Well, the development of other characters is also good to watch. As for relatability, I'm not too sure. Probably we can learn from his calm thinking. A good attribute to have in this crazy world.

A cute girl in the dark... |
Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)
I enjoy it very much!!!!! I didn't expect to like it that much as I started to watch this show because of Shuka...ahem! Anyway, this show is very good, with lots of fighting, strategic thinking and ability of Kaname are exhilarating to watch. Rein is not so bad either. She also has great knowledge and is intelligent enough to be the brains of Kaname's clan. Anyway, I will watch it again when I have the time.
