Introduction

Now, it's time for the movie!!!

Well, I dun think I need to introduce the series a lot as I talked about it on my previous post. I have watched the movie and I teared up at a certain part. Anyway, the third season is coming soon...Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I. AM. SO. EXCITED!!!! YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm planning to start watching Brave Witches. Also, I'm looking to watching Luminous Witches next year. By the way, I haven't started the 501 Strike Witches OVA yet as I've other anime to catch up so it won't be any time soon though. Anyway, let's go!!!

Aren't they cute?

Plot

Yoshika and Michiko...

Oh, a new girl, Hattori Shizuka

The movie talks about Yoshika's life after Unit 501's disband. Yoshika lives a peaceful life with her best friend, Michiko. Both of them has graduated from high school, together. Yoshika is catching with her studies to study medicine in her home country. Suddenly, she and her friend are visited by Hattori Shizuka, a girl who is raised as an army in the Fusō Empire. She gave her the information that the allies in Europe have decided to gave Yoshika the scholarship to study medicine in Europe as a reward for her involvement in liberating Gailia and Romagna. Yoshika agreed to go to Europe to study medicine so she went there together with Shizuka.

Shizuka having issues with Yoshika

But on the way to Europe, Shizuka has immediately found issues with Yoshika's lack of military discipline. Yoshika got involved with cooking in the kitchen, got involved in cleaning the deck of the aircraft carrier that she and Shizuka are on and did not bring her military uniform. All of these angered Shizuka and decided to lecture her military discipline. To be honest, she is not raised as a soldier or act as much like a soldier throughout her time in Unit 501. She is more like a normal civilian who joined the army under emergency recruitment. I dun blame Yoshika but Shizuka has issues with it as she is raised as one.

Shizuka is very upset...

...and you can see that. Dun say you have no issue with Yoshika, you Miss Obvious!

The one thing that makes Shizuka even more furious is that Yoshika insisted to rescue the sailor in the gunpowder room by assisting him to turn the jammed fire extinguisher faucet. That is further compounded by the fact that she idolised her as a model soldier to look up to, which makes her extremely FURIOUS. Even though Shizuka has refused to voice her concern about Yoshika's lack of military discipline, even when Perrine has pointed it out during their one-night stay in Perinne's house, she continues to do what she was told.

Going to Perrine's home...

Oh, a new Neuroi.

And yes, they went to Perrine's place for a one-night stay when they arrived in Europe. Interestingly, Lynette and Perrine came to see them while they still on the ship, with Lynette flying straight towards Yoshika and hug her. Anyway, Yoshika and Shizuka left to go to the academy where she is going to continue her studies in medicine. Behind the scenes, a new Neuroi threat is slowly brewing and going to change the course of her plans.

Shizuka...Shizuka, NO!!!!

Yoshika vs the "tower Neuroi"

The new Neuroi type has slowly shown itself in various places and hijacking communication lines, causing a lot of trouble along the way for Yoshika and Shizuka. Shizuka fainted after trying to beat the Neuroi, prompting the magic-less Yoshika to try and beat the Neuroi herself. In the process, Yoshika left heavily injured and was found by Shizuka after woken up from the impact. Shizuka tried to get help but failed because of the communication hijacking done by the new Neuroi. With that, Shikzuka left her with a communication device and flys higher to get out from the communication hijacking.

Seeking for help...

Wait, what?! Yoshika got her magic back?!

After flying for a while, Shizuka finally got her SOS message through. Some of Yoshika's former teammates were already mobilized to deal with the Neuroi that was nearby Yoshika. They (I mean ALL of the Yoshika's former teammate) immediately tried to get Yoshika's response and some even mobilised immediately after gotten the SOS message from Shizuka. Yoshika somehow got up and got back her magic miraculously after hearing her former teammates message. Mmhmm...wait, what?! Wow...the MC aura is here!!!

Coming to aid...

Battleship in the river! What?!

With that, her former teammates got together and try to get through to Yoshika. The interesting thing is that there's a battleship that's coming up the Rhine River. Wait...what?! WTF?! Wow...I'm not gonna question it anymore. Moving on...

Oh...a sweet reunion...

The boss is here!!!

With Yoshika being able to recover her magic, she once again takes on the Strike Unit that she used in season 2, which is given to her by the now magic-less Mio through an aeroplane. With Yoshika's return to the sky with her Strike Unit, she and her former teammate decided to beat the Neuroi that came out from being partially underneath the ground to showing itself above the skies. They defeated it with ease and temporarily resolved the crisis.

Final blow!!!!!!!!!!

Shizuka...oh, Shizuka. You finally understand...

After the victory over the Neuroi, Shizuka finally reconciled her feelings after she saw that Yoshika regained her magic abilities and reunite with all of her former comrades in Unit 501 to defeat the Neuroi boss that had appeared. With a threat of a brand new Neuroi, the Unit 501 Strike Witches is banded together once again to clear the Neuroi's threat once and for all. Unto Berlin, boys and girls! And also unto more cute girls with cute animal ears flying around beating up bad guys. YEAH!

That scene...LOL!!!

It was a good movie overall. I will give the details on the next part. Oh, you are asking the rest of the characters? Well, they did have mentioned all of the members of the disbanded Unit 501 after Strike Witches disband. Pretty interesting although they are only briefly mentioned. I think season 3 will the FINAL season of Strike Witches. It's Berlin! Yes, I used the World War 2 story to judge on whether season 3 will the final season. Anyway, time to move on! Let's not waste time!

Time to go for season 3!!!!

Anime Rating

Story (Rating: 10/10)

I like that the story's trigger point has changed from a deceased father's letter to an invitation to study in Europe. It freshens up the series a bit, in my opinion. Anyway, the story proceeds onto Shizuka developing a relationship with Yoshika on the way and knowing her. And of course, Yoshika gots her powers BACK!!!!! That's why the title of THIS BLOG POST, MY FRIENDS!!!!! Good story to introduce a new character and reunite Unit 501: Strike Witches. I, love, it!!!!!!! OK, back to serious business. The story is overall well-done, have a good flow, have good pacing and is easy to understand.

A chat with Perinne...

Just admit it, Shizuka. You have an issue with Yoshika.

Art and Animation (Rating: 10/10)

As usual, the animation team has done very well to animate the actions of the girls, good consistency. And also, the different scenes are being done well. Ahem, still got a lot of "interesting" camera shots and angles. Good stuff. Oh, also, the characters are really cute too! Ok, ok, ok, I'm biased, alright? I can go on about the animation team's appropriate use of static animations and no overuse of repetitive animations (I think) but, whatever, let's move on.

Oh...time to fight, girls!!!

Sound and Music (Rating: 7/10)

The BGM is pretty good and fits well to the different situation in the anime. Oh, the movie theme song? It is a quite good one and is a great way to end the movie (and start the third season. xD).

Nice picture, right?

Characters (Rating: 10/10)

The characters are so cute as before. OH YEAH!!!!! Ahem! Sorry about that. Anyway, the character development is mostly focused on the side character, Shizuka (mainly inner character), especially about her thoughts on Yoshika when she lives with her during their journey to Europe and to the medical school. Of course, the characters from the previous season (and from Operation Victory) are well-presented. Many of those characters, including Yoshika, don't go through too many changes in terms of inner character or any sort of changes but those non-changes are the one thing that captivates the fans of this series (including me). Relatability? Well, I dun think the main character aura that Yoshika has might not be relatable to everybody (if you know what I mean). xD

A new character! Oh, actually, I have seen her before in Operation Victory!

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)

As a Strike Witches fanboy, how I can not enjoy watching this movie?! Of course, I enjoyed it!!! I love the return of Unit 501 once again. I teared up when I saw Yoshika heard her former teammates voice and gets up and got her magic back. OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will watch it again whenever I can! Of course, there are parts that I will watch it again and again and again. xD

Salute to you girls!!!

Overall Rating: 9.4 (9.25)/10

Conclusion

With me returning to work with great unwillingness, I will do my best to write and publish as many blog post as I can! It looks like the MCO could be coming to an end and the new normalcy will shape our societies throughout the year or even up till next year. Well, the MCO also screw up everybody's plan, including mine. I think I need another change of plan since the MCO has been loosened. Anyway, I'm just glad that the economy can return back to some form of normalcy. OK, that's it for now and for this post. I hope that you enjoy reading and browsing this blog. Goodbye, and God bless you!

A flash of red panties for you deviants! xD
