Anime Review for Etotama: Return to a World Filled with Kemomimi

Hello, readers. I'm currently on a HOT streak on posting new blogs post on this blog. It's because I'm quite free at this point. Plus, I need to do as much as I can before I get busy with my studies. BTW, it has been a LONG TIME since I've talked about Etotama in this blog. Well, I had to deal with my studies as it is not exactly in a good spot. So, yeah, I fell short of completing this anime series so I had to watch it from start to end before reviewing it.

BTW, this is gonna be quite heavily quoted review as I've said a little too much (maybe?) on my previous post about it so...yeah...OK, LET'S GO!!!

OK, OK, OK, readers, I won't be doing this review like what I did in the previous few reviews. This is an anime review about Etotama (えとたま). Oh yeah, have you noticed something? The word,「干支魂」 below the word 「えとたま」? It is actually read as "eto" for the word:「干支」and for the word 「魂」 is read as just tamashii rather than tama only. As for a certain site, it is titled: Etotama: Etotamashi just to compensate for the difference of reading between the Hiragana only title and the Kanji only title.

On the previous post, I had mentioned about the plot of the story:-

"The story revolves around Nyaa-tan, the cat of Chinese astrology (not really...in Chinese astrology, there is no CAT), who wants to become a member of the Chinese zodiac. Well, you might be thinking why on earth those this story comes about? Well, there is quite a number of discussion on that matter, not only the cat (well, there is also a long old, old, yeah REALLY OLD story about why the cat is not in the zodiac, in which it builds on the cat-rat relationship), but also others like why is the dragon in the zodiac and does the dragon exist...kind of thing..."

On THAT SAME post, I had also provided some terminology and 'mechanics' that you need to know when watching this anime (Well, not that they won't tell you if you watched it):-

"Well, honestly speaking our dear Nyan-tan is just a Eto-musume and the others who are in the zodiac are called as Eto-shin (a higher level than Eto-musume). Well, later you will encounter something called the Sol/Lull, which is the source of the Eto-musume's life force and is the embodiment of proper human emotions, which is a type of energy only humans possess, like Takeru Amato. Every time a human feels grateful, Sol/Lull appears. When Sol/Lull collects into a Eto-musume's soul, their Etotama, they are able to transform from adult mode, a form which allows them to exist in the human world, to a form which allows them to fight in the Eto world, Pretty mode."

OK, there will be no more quotes. Let's move on to talk a little bit more about this anime. Shall we?

OK, well, as I had mentioned that the story revolves around a catgirl, Nyaa-tan. Yeah, the cat who wants to become a member of the Chinese zodiac. So, this anime surrounds us with the idea of the cat wanting to be part of Zodiac. There is a CATCH...the story's main character is not Nyaa-tan BUT a normal human boy named Takeru Amato, after he met Nyaa-tan.

This might be confusing to many. Why? Well, the story is structured that way. Anyway, the story STILL revolves around Nyaa-tan BUT the story starts with Takeru (the MC) meeting the majority of the Zodiac girls (a.k.a. Etoshin) on the street BEFORE he meets Nyaa-tan and kick-starts his new, weird life. BTW, Zodiac girls requested him to name all of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac IN ORDER. Well, he only answered it halfway, which makes quite a number of them disappointed.

The story had a REALLY GOOD happy ending. REALLY GOOD. Well, to be honest, it might be a little bit unsatisfying...I won't tell what it is but SERIOUSLY watch it. You should watch it if you can deal with some fan service, and if you LIKE comedies. This anime is funny, like SERIOUSLY FUNNY. I only stopped watching it because I needed to study for my exam and start to finish up some of my important assignment. Oh yeah, one more thing, if you want to know a bit more about how I feel on this anime, I will do a 'technical' review later. BUT for now, it's time for the usual 'service' that I provide.
