Anisong study: The Other Side of the Wall
Well, well, hello, people. How are you? I've been on a streak of publishing new blog posts this week, which were about Endro and Seto no Hanayome. These posts are pretty short because of the nature of the anime's plot. Don't worry. I did my best to maintain the good quality of my posts as I prefer quality rather than quantity.

Anyway, this time, like the last time, would like to put off anime review post for a moment to talk about a song that I would like to talk about: The Other Side of the Wall, which is the opening song of the anime Princess Principal (which I had made a special post about it before). Amazingly, this opening theme song actually an English song. So, it will be a slightly different experience. Anyway, let's not waste more time and time to go. Let's go!

Introduction
The song, The Other Side of the Wall is the opening song for the anime Princess Principal. Oh, I introduced it to you before and also gave a deeper analysis and some of my thoughts on the anime. Those were fiery and passionate times. whistles...Since this is an English song, I will do things a little differently (as I've mentioned earlier) than the two songs, Ima Koko and Love with You. Now, with that out and not wanna waste any more time, it's time to go!

Commentary
The song is very vague in meaning. It is so vague in meaning that I need to consult somebody to make sure that I get the hidden meaning within the song. This translation job is harder than I expected.

Back to the topic. The song talks about breaking free from the old things that bind you and prevent you from moving forward for a brighter future, which includes the divide of the country and the old order of the Kingdom. It is very prevalent in the "steam-punk version" of the Victorian era in the anime. The old order collapsed because of the revolution and the divide started, dividing people and the country. Princess Charlotte and Ange are separated from each other after the revolution.

Although they have reunited with each other despite having the wall in between them, Ange (currently acting as Charlotte) has taken on Princess Charlotte's (currently acting as Ange) wish to be the queen of the Kingdom to break down the "walls" in the country, reunite the country and ultimately, finally, openly declare their friendship to the world. Even with Princess Charlotte's invitation to run to Casablanca, Ange who is still acting as the princess refuses to do so because she wants to make Charlotte's wish come through and running away to Casablanca doesn't achieve that goal. Princess Charlotte has somehow lost her goal when acting as Ange at that time but I believe she will help Ange to achieve that goal in the upcoming 6-part movie, which still doesn't have a new release date being announced after being postponed due to Covid-19 outbreak. Anyway, time to move on.

Conclusion
sigh...Finally! It's been a difficult one. The hidden meaning of certain phrases took me a while to cross-check and ask other people to ensure my translation's consistency and accuracy. I didn't expect it to be that difficult. Well, the translated lyrics that I've made are not suitable to sing it out but I know that we could sing aloud if I made some changes to the translated lyrics. Anyway, It was a good experience. I like it despite having a hard time doing it. Anyway, I hope that you have enjoyed this special post. Do forgive me for my translation if you feel that it's not good enough.
