Yes, I'm talking about the anime movie, Nanoha Detonation. This post (like Nanoha Reflection) that won't have many screenshots on. I will pick some screenshots from the PV and will update this post with screenshots from the movie. I will update you through my AniList profile, Facebook page and making a special blog post like
the one for Nanoha Reflection. Anyway, let's go!!!

There is not much introduction for this movie as it is just the continuation of
Nanoha Reflection. So, there is nothing much to introduce anyway. I will add in the screenshots whenever possible since the screenshot for this movie is not available yet as of the initial publishing date. In order to make the reading experience better, I will put up the screenshots from the PV and a lot of official arts that I can find. I will give you a brief introduction to the anime, which will be mainly the info that I have not given
previously.

The movie, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation (魔法少女リリカルなのはDetonation), like what I have mentioned, is the 4th Nanoha movie, which the continuation from the movie Nanoha Reflection. Just like Nanoha Reflection, there is no number 4 in the title to prevent confusion. This movie's production is mentioned in the magazine interviews of Nanoha Reflection. As for its title, it was released back on July 22, 2017, when the roadshow of Reflection starts. Well, I did talk about it a few months later. Anyway, this movie is more like Nanoha's 3rd movie part 2 more than a 4th movie. OK, let's move on.

As I have mentioned, the story continues directly from Nanoha Reflection and start at where Nanoha Detonation ended. There was a little brawl between Yuri and Takamachi Nanoha and Amitie Florian and Iris. The brawl ended with Iris retreating and taking Yuri with her. This whole brawl leaving Nanoha and her allies injured and getting Amitie, Kyrie and the trio (Stern, Levi, Dearche) in custody (and also getting their treatment because they also fought and have gotten injured).

During that brief peaceful period, the trio recovered something that Yuri was trying to give them before Iris injured her and capture her. That something has recovered something related to the Iris and Yuri...their past. They met each other in Eltoria when Eltoria's Planet Reclamation Committee still exists. There was once a beautiful and fun time for both of them...and suddenly there is a gap of record in the magical page (which contains the information of their past and is the thing that Yuri wants to give the trio) between their good times and the tragic massacre of the committee members, which left the site of Planet Reclamation Committee abandoned, Iris and Yuri's friendship broken and Yuri disappeared together with the Book and a defeated Iris somehow survived in a tablet.

After looking at their past, Nanoha, her allies, the trio and the Florian sisters decided to defeat Iris and finally get out the whole truth. They prepare themselves to face the army that Iris built using her magic. The fight between Iris (dragging Yuri together) and Time-Space Administrative Bureau (TSAB) and their allies (it is basically Nanoha and her allies). Yuri has no choice but to fight the trio, which she cherishes a lot because the virus injected Iris earlier. Nanoha's allies did manage to defeat Iris's force...BUT...there is another even greater force behind this whole madness. Kind of reminds me of Nanoha A's where the two catgirls planned to trigger the Book of Darkness to seal it.

Anyway, as the conflict continues to escalate, Nanoha and her allies soon found out the greater force is led by someone who is very close to Iris and Yuri, the leading scientist of the Planet Reclamation Committee. He is...Phil Maxwell, who should be dead after being murdered by Yuri and somehow got revived after Iris makes her army. This man is the one who used his powers and his minions to murder everyone in the committee and tried to sell Iris and Yuri to parties that are interested. He had literally snapped after knowing that the committee will be dismissed and no longer will be funded. We also found out that Iris is created by Maxwell and has been used by him to revive himself whenever possible.

Now, Phil becomes a super-powerful bio-android that almost nobody can defeat, even the most powerful TSAB mage, Nanoha has a hard time to even fight against him EVEN on equal terms. After an enormous fight between Maxwell and Nanoha, Maxwell launched a roller coaster train to make a weaponized satellite to threaten Fate and the TSAB. Maxwell was doomed to fail anyway because of the seal that the TSAB put up. Nanoha proceeds to destroy the satellite after knowing Phil's plan. She has gotten so seriously injured during the process that she is not even able to return to Earth. She needed Fate and Hayate's help to get back to Earth and finally close the case.

In the end, Maxwell is locked up by TSAB and the people involved in this incident (Dearche, Stern, Levi and the Florian sister) are placed under custody to settle their court case, similar to what happened to the Fate in Nanoha 1st season. Anyway, with the case settled, the Florian sisters, Yuri and the trio, Dearche, Levi and Stern returned to Eltria once again to finally get the planet revived once again and also use her powers to nurse the Florian sister's parent back to health.

These two movies, Nanoha Reflection and Nanoha Detonation are really good. Still, I DO NOT recommend you to watch them without EVEN watching the previous movie, Nanoha 1st and 2nd movie. I recommend you have at least watched the 1st and 2nd movie but of course, if you have watched the 1st and 2nd season of Nanoha, I would say that this is the best scenario as they give you a really comprehensive character introduction. One thing, DO NOT treat them (Reflection and Detonation) as separate movies because are like part 1 and part 2 of a movie but was given different names.

Anime Rating
Story (Rating: 8/10)
Since it is a direct continuation of Nanoha Reflection (it basically part 2 of Nanoha Reflection), it has the same issue as the previous movie: Lack of character intro (usually minor characters) and the requirement for you to watch the previous 'seasons'. Anyway, I would NEVER recommend anyone who has NEVER watch the Nanoha series before to watch this movie. OK, as the story in itself, it is well-narrated for the backstory of the incident that drags Nanoha and her friends in a tough fight and getting them injured badly. There are a few cute and funny scene to lighten the incident a little, just like in Nanoha Reflection.

Art and Animation (Rating: 9/10)
The fight animation was well-made! Without a good fight animation, Nanoha Reflection and this movie (Nanoha Detonation) won't be good. The animation is consistently good, which should be good. And, tbh, the animation of both movies (Reflection and Detonation) are much better than some of the previous animations (I mean some of the older Nanoha anime).

Sound and Music (Rating: 8/10)
The music? Well, it was the same case as Nanoha Reflection. I was SERIOUSLY focused on the story so I hardly take note on the BGM. Well, this shows that the BGM is well-placed and well-made. Otherwise, I would have noticed it unless it is SO GOOD that I noticed it. Anyway, the theme song is good, I say. Oh yeah, and also the sound effects are great!

Characters (Rating: 9/10)
The characters are well-drawn. I like them! AND also, there is more character development for the side characters. Are they cute? YES, they are CUTE!!! There is a scene that gives us a little deeper look into Nanoha heart. TBH, she was a minor character in Triangle Heart so hardly gives us much insight into herself. The anime DID show us on how Nanoha treats others but almost nothing much about herself. There is also recalling the things of the past for Dearche, Stern, Levi, Yuri and Iris, which is quite nice and help us to understand and know the background of the incident in this movie.

Enjoyment (Rating: 10/10)
I have enjoyed it VERY much!!! The troublesome situation that I was stuck in KL Midvalley for a moment in time was worth the trip. Hehe...So worth it. Anyway, it is just my bias. I would rewatch it again when I'm free.
